Lending and Collections

From application to funding to collections follow-up, CBX handles the full lending lifecycle inside your core banking system. Loan origination, credit decisioning, document generation, and loan booking are all built in. No separate loan origination software required.

Core lending coverage

Application workflows

Designed to reduce re-keying and speed up processing from intake through approval

Underwriting support

Configurable pricing controls and credit decisioning that match your credit union’s lending policies

Collateral tracking

Loan structure flexibility to support common loan types without manual workarounds

Servicing and monitoring

Maintains visibility after funding so nothing falls through the cracks

Collections without chaos

Collections work is easier when it’s consistent. CBX supports delinquency monitoring and follow-up workflows that help staff stay on top of accounts without building a separate process outside the core. Automated scheduling and collection reporting keep your team organized, not scrambling.

Accounting and Back Office

Daily balancing, GL management, ACH and wire processing, and month-end close , all handled inside CBX. Your back office runs on the same core banking software as your frontline, which means fewer reconciliation headaches and a single source of truth. When your team needs extra hands, CU*NorthWest’s accounting support team can step in and carry the load.

Back office foundation

General ledger support

Balancing workflows built into the core so your general ledger (GL) stays current without manual intervention

Operational tracking

Covers common back-office areas , ACH, payroll, share drafts, and vendor coordination

Dormancy and escheat controls

Monitoring for items that regulators ask about, built into daily operations

Budget setup and tracking

Supports leadership reporting and planning without a separate tool

Reconciliation support

Reduces time spent researching exceptions so your team can focus on higher-value work

Audit readiness is a habit

The goal isn’t perfect reporting once a year. The goal is daily accuracy that makes audits and exams less disruptive. CBX tracks what examiners look for, transaction history, document retention, and automated compliance checks, so audit prep is built into daily operations, not a quarterly scramble.

Digital Banking

Give your members the digital banking experience they expect without stitching together separate platforms. Online banking, a mobile app, bill pay, and voice banking all connect directly to CBX, so account data stays consistent and your team isn’t managing multiple software systems.

Operational controls

Limits, holds, and risk-reduction tools configurable to your credit union’s setup

Vendor flexibility, with structure

Card and EFT ecosystems involve multiple vendors. CBX works with major card and payment processors, giving your credit union options without locking you into a single vendor. CU*NorthWest coordinates these relationships so your team isn’t managing vendor logistics on top of everything else. A strong core approach helps standardize reporting and controls so you’re not rebuilding processes every time a vendor changes.

Security and Compliance

Compliance tools and risk management capabilities are built into CBX, not added as aftermarket software. Access controls, transaction monitoring, audit workflows, and regulatory reporting are part of the core system your team already uses every day. CU*NorthWest helps you configure these tools for your credit union’s specific regulatory environment.

If loan growth is a priority and collections cannot become a second full-time job. Our CBX core software supports lending from underwriting through servicing and delinquency monitoring.

Still have questions? Talk to a CBX specialist

What’s included in CBX core banking software?

CBX includes member service and teller tools, lending and loan origination, accounting and back office, digital banking (online and mobile), bill pay, reporting and automation, payments and card processing, compliance and risk management tools, and account opening. These capabilities are built into the core system, not third-party add-ons.

Do I need separate loan origination software with CBX?

No. CBX includes loan origination, credit decisioning, document generation, and loan booking as built-in capabilities. CU*NorthWest can help you configure and optimize the lending tools already in your core.

Is CBX cloud-based?

CBX runs in a browser for most daily tasks, though some functions - like receipt processing, scanning, and opening imaging vaults - require desktop software (CBX Station Control). Your team accesses the system through a secure connection to CU*Answers' data centers, and some on-premise equipment, like the firewall that establishes your VPN connection, is installed and maintained as part of the setup. CU*NorthWest manages the core system infrastructure so your credit union doesn't need a full in-house IT team to run your core.

How does CBX compare to other credit union core systems?

CBX is built and maintained by CU*Answers and supported locally by cooperative partners like CU*NorthWest. Unlike many large core providers, CBX bundles capabilities like loan origination, digital banking, and compliance tools into the core rather than requiring third-party add-ons. And because CU*NorthWest is a cooperative, your credit union has a voice in how the system evolves.
