Accounting Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY

As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our accounting team. You’ll assist with various accounting tasks, gain valuable insights into financial operations, and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Accounts Payable (AP): Assist in processing invoices, verifying vendor payments, and maintaining accurate records of payables.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Help manage client invoices, track outstanding payments, and follow up on receivables.
  • GL Reconciliation: Maintain spreadsheets and assist in reconciling General Ledgers on a monthly basis.
  • Budget Balancing: Assist in balancing the office or department budget.
  • Journal Entries: Enter and post journal entries related to financial transactions.
  • Organizing and Archiving Files: Sort, categorize, and archive financial documents for easy retrieval.
  • Daily Credit Union account reconciliation.
  • Share draft exceptions.
  • ACH exceptions and reconciliation.
  • Other Miscellaneous: Accounting projects will vary.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High school degree or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years accounting experience, preferably in a credit union. ACH audit experience. CU*BASE experience a plus.
  • Skills: Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers, and strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). QuickBooks would be a plus. Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Job Type: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour
